Algernon Charles Swinburne (5 April - 10 April ) was an English poet, playwright, novelist, and literary critic. He invented the roundel verse form, wrote several novels, and contributed to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Swinburne, son of Admiral Swinburne and of Lady Jane Ashburnham (daughter of the 3rd Earl of Ashburnham), was born in London, received his early education in France Occupation: Poet, playwright, novelist, and critic.
